On mine I had pressure problems and found a Screen in line going into the pump. Kinda like a screen on a water hose. It was screwed into the connection going into the water pump I’m assuming in order to keep debris from the camp ground or water tank from getting into the system. I replaced the little screen and never had problems again.

Thanks - I can see if I have that, but have to take a whole basement panel off to do it, I think, to get to my water pump.  Something doesn't seem right.....shouldn't be so hard to access.  Thanks for the tip, I'm going to try that.

I don't think there is anything that should cause fluctuations in water pressure.  The only time that has happened to me is when my filter was plugged.  What kind of water pressure regulator do you use?  Those small non-adjustable regulators that screw on the hose are notorious for causing pressure fluctuations.  My fresh water tank is in that first bay mounted just aft of the Hydro-Hot.  Yours is obviously installed somewhere else.  You might look for it to see if you have a visual view of the tank.

You might be interested in joining the Beaver Ambassador Club (BAC).  They have a technical forum of all things Beaver.  The only bad part is that the club is a sub chapter of FMCA and you must be a member of FMCA before you can join BAC.  I really don't care much for FMCA, but I retain my membership just to have access to the BAC Forum.

Our Monterey is our 3rd diesel pusher and by far the best.  I am trying my best to keep it functional as it approaches it's 20th birthday.  Mine has a CAT C9-400 engine from 2004, was built in 2005 and registered as a 2006.  So, it is coming right up on 20 years.  Enjoy your Monterey.

Richard

Mine could be there and I just never noticed.  I do recall the small 10gallon, but nothing the size of my other holding tanks.  I'm going to look again later.

I have seen the BAC and unable to participate without joining FMCA.  I haven't decided I wanted to do that yet.

I, too, have the CAT-9 400 which could be same age.  I love this beast..... trying to keep her as happy and healthy as possible.

thanks a bunch for the help - I'll check back after work.

Forgot to mention, I have the Renator adjustable pressure regulator AND I changed that out yesterday (had a spare) just to check if that could be the culprit.  Didn't make a difference.... uugghh

I bet it's some screen I didn't even know existed so, I'm going to try and trace from input.  I've checked everything inside already.  It always 'fixes itself' within a day or two - just so weird, so figured it's something I don't know, but should.  Better to ask.....

Generically…..there will or should be an inlet bowl filter on the water pump.  NOW, all bets might be off since you do not have the “gravity fill” tank opening…but, my hunch is that you do have a water pump filter.  On some models, you have it “slide into” the storage bay adjacent to the wet bay.  Mine is that way.  There is an interior panel on the side wall of the bay adjacent to the wet bay.  The pump is back there.  The wall panel is a piece of sheet metal….maybe 24” X 18” high.  Held in place with two square drive head screws.  Slide the tray (assuming you have trays) out of the bay adjacent to the wet bay….slide out on the other side…so you can see into the bay. Use a flashlight and look on the side wall of the bay adjacent to the wet bay.

Always use washing machine filter washers on the inlet of the regulator and the inlet hose of the MH….as well as on the back flush hose or fitting….

Our Dynasty came with a factory installed Jenair. It was amazing but the Mexican electricity killed it. Lasted almost 13 years. This was during Covid and appliances were scarse. I went to every appliance store in the city. Most said it would take 6 months. Finally found another Jenair with bottom freezer and side by side fridge. Slightly larger in depth. Maybe 1 inch. 4 or 5 inches taller. I had a drawer under the fridge. Lowered the "shelf" enought to hold the fridge. Monaco had a unique set up to hold the fridge in place. The outer wall of the mh. had a wood spacer . This kept the fridge from moving back. Simple brackets held the  bottom rear of the fridge . In place. Monaco built a metal plate that  held the  upper front of the fridge  in place. So the fridge was sandwiched in place.  Both the new and the old fridge fit the driver side emergency exit. Without the doors about .5 inch clearance . Jennair are made by Whirlpool and both are quality units. Before buying a Samsung I would recommend looking at Whirlpools.

(I have replaced that cover) I will check for access to the water pump because the only thing I recall was the ice maker water line and a plastic piece blocking from further on.  I need to see how I can get in further to the pump.  I might need to show a picture of I can't figure out how to get in here without removing PEX.

For lithium batteries there are 2 needed features and I believe that battery is missing one- plus it is a bit high priced- At $279.  There are several 100ah batteries at $229 to $200 that have the needed features but may be in a slightly larger format.

The two needed features are:

1. Low temperature charging protection- (it has this feature). Verify it is set to 32F or 0C.

2. The BMS needs Bluetooth (or other way to read the individual cell voltages). This feature is important. I chat with many people over at DIY SOLAR FORUM, and someone will have some strange charging issues- like all of sudden they are getting high voltage in their solar charging (16v) when their batteries are only 75% full. Or the batteries don’t seem to hold as much power as they used to. The issue is the cells have gotten out of balance. (So they are hitting the high voltage production on a single cell in charge or the low voltage production on a single cell in discharge). If they had Bluetooth and an app to see the out of balance - they would probably see the problem developing.

The solution to fix it is to slowly charge the battery and let the bms balancer work. If you have Bluetooth you can figure out the voltage to charge to, if not then guess - usually 13.8, - for several hours(low amps), drain 10%, then 14.0, repeat, then 14.2, repeats, then 14.4, repeat.  Without Bluetooth you are kinda guessing when/if you have the battery back in balance- with it you can know.

Lithiums are NOT the same as Lead-Acid- you need at least one charger (that is often used) that will charge lithiums exactly how they want to be charged - so your balancer can work and has time to work. The small passive BMS balancers take a long time to work.

Appears to me....a learning NOVICE, that their "Shunt" system is not made for our MH's.  We have, OEM, 450 AH....some models with Dual Banks have 900 AH capacity.

Interesting though...

Reliability and reputation?  Have NO IDEA....comments from folks that have used them and such would be great.  How long have they been in business.  Are they like the "Latest DOT.COM (er DOT.BOMB) companies that were a massive failure in the late 90?  That, to me would be important...

Renogy is a marketing company. They slap their label on a product that another company makes. They do have a USA support, but from what I hear it has gone downhill over the last few years.

Because, they use other companies for engineering, their products are inconsistent- some are OK and others not so much so.

Over at DIYSOLARFORUM there is a saying that friends don’t let friends buy Renogy. (But over there many tend to be snobs for high-end tier1 products).

i have three of their 100w solar panels (the specs happened to hit exactly what I needed).
With electronics I don’t think I would use or recommend a Renogy label product. With a battery, I might - if it had Bluetooth and low temperature protection.

It says it has Bluetooth monitoring through the Renogy shunt??? If that does not let you see individual cell voltages it does not count.

Why would city water be passing throught the pump and it's little filter? Yes, it would pass it through but would not make sense to do it that way. I have the same pump, adequate for our boondocking style and just replaced for same spare a couple of days ago when the built-in backflow got stuck. It will pass water through it under pressure in correct direction. I would more suspect a presence of factory restrictor in the city inlet plumbing, had to remove ours. Looked like a long brass fitting right behind the hose connection.

So, most of us are running a pressure regulator in front of a factory installed restrictor?

{edit} Just remembered, I have a reel. So if they installed a reducer, it would have to be around there.

Our coach came with two cabinet-mounted speakers next to the TV.  The left one will be blocked by the flat screen I'm mounting over the old cabinet that held the tube TV, and I'd like to move the two cabinet speakers to the ceiling directly above the driver and passenger seat.  Does anyone know what trouble I'll run into if I start drilling away at the ceiling in that area?  This photo shows the next pair of speakers that are already in the ceiling about halfway back.

Replacement hydraulic hoses for Lippert
Goodtimes

My 3 slideouts ( galley, living rm & gen) Lippert pump is needing replacement hoses. Currenty hose size are 3/16" (100R7).  All current Lippert pump systems use 1/4" hose. Tech support would only say they use 1/4 hose for the current models pumps.  I wanted to be proactive and replace with hoses if in the furure the pump fails the replace pump would be good to use with the 1/4" hoses. My Monaco pump # 645-263 translate to a Lippert Assy # 156844 ( but that is only a 2 valve setup, not the 3 I need) Lippert parts was not sure if assy 172911 would work)  Neverthless, my question:

If changing to 1/4" hose vs the 3/16" hose, will there be negative affect on the slides operation? Lippert would only say there could be reduced pressure but would not say if that would cause negative affects or problems.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

Replacement hydraulic hoses for Lippert
Tom Cherry

Do you have any leaks?  Are any damaged.  Monaco bought the entire system directly from Lippert.  Right down to every hose, balance cylinder and each drive cylinder.  I had to replace my entire PUMP ASSEMBLY.  SOME have salvaged their systems...  BUT mine is one of the ones that OFTEN FAIL.  If you have the Long "Loaf of Bread" reservoir....that is a failure waiting to happen.  The end of the reservoir needs to have a bracket (DIY....aluminum angle, Unistrut, strips, even WOOD) and then a few thicknesses of HVAC Foam tape to go between the bottom of the reservoir and the Support.

My issue was a Bad or BURNED UP motor.  Due to the fact that these LONG SKINNY UNSUPPORTED systems were a POOR design (Lippert admitted and discounted the replacement so it was the COST of a New Motor).... then I put in the new system.  NEW PUMP and Solenoids and MOTOR.  It was PLUG and PLAY.  All the fittings were the same....so I used the same hoses.  That was done circa 2022 or so.  If Lippert has gone to 1/4" then the fittings on mine worked....as the tech only BOLTED and CONNECTED it (Hoses and electrical).  There was NO adapters or size changes.

Just passing on what we and and others have found out...  Your system MAY be the SAME Vintage.  We have the SINGLE Solenoid (only ON and OFF) not the REVERSING one that changes motor direction.

I would be more concerned and proactive with the hydraulic failure potential...as that is a KNOW problem...than the hoses.  IF you have a rectangular reservoir and not the long, cantilevered and unsupported one....then you probably can replace or repair it...  BUT the seals and the interface between the Pump and the Reservoir are the weak spot and new motors have not mated up with the pumps and the seals have leaked....NOT ALWAYS....but frequent enough that most have considered a pump.  OTHERS fixed theirs....so it is a "crap shoot"

Dandick66, while Trailmug is correct that "evacuation" will just boil off moisture in the lines and not oil, remember, I opened the system and REMOVED a device from the system, replacing it.  I do not have my chart and info on this PC, but as you can see in the chart that Trailmug references, there is an oil quantity listed for system components, specifically a receiver drier (and accumulator, condenser, minor system leak, other hoses/lines, etc.)  Therefore, I added oil in accordance to the chart that I had downloaded which listed motor coaches references based on length and hp.

I've seen those at the spigot at other places, but this CG doesn't.  I do have a "y" attached to city water spigot and  adjustable regulator on one side. I tested the other side and water is great flow -- disconnected my regulator and verified both sides of the splitter flow the same (had that problem before with one side restricted in y - so knew to check that) - both are good.  I ran the water until it came out the other side of my hose (clear) and let it run a bit (put a little peroxide in the hose to flush) and plugged it up to City valve on the coach, which has the Shur-Flo regulator built in.

What's odd about it, it does 'fix itself' in about 2 or so days, so that's what makes me think I'm missing a step.....somewhere.  I just can't think what it could be.  It's like the line isn't fully pressurized, but the pump is self-priming and not even being 'used' with regulator(s) being fine and just 'fixes itself' in a couple days.  To me, if it were a leak or something causing no pressure to build in the line, I should have found - opened all cabinets, bays, etc....

it's so odd.....

One is always at risk of DRILLING or cutting or going anywhere in the ceiling of a MH or a Monaco.  There is a maze of wires and also different construction.  NOW, if someone DOES have hands on experience....GREAT.  But, other than that....you are driving in the jungle with out a roadmap or GPS.

You CAN do some TEST cuts....and then insert a spy camera and figure out WHERE to go and if it will work.  Personally, the suggestion of a SOUND BAR might make sense or USE a Center Channel Speaker in the middle and turn the rear ones in the Left and Right.

Have a Plan for a "WHITE" cover plate to disguise your cuts....if you find it is impossible.  Proceed at your own risk and try to get into that area from the front...with a spy camera.  They work great and are cheap and you only need the 36" or 48" flex cord or cable.  Use a Tablet of a PC for a larger picture.  Phones are great if you have X-Ray vision like Superman.  My eyes need the larger screen size...

I'll also throw in there that Sanden uses "SP-15" which I believe is ISO 46, and can be somewhat less easy to find.

The stuff sucks up water and doesn't want to let it go.. officially, moisture-contaminated oil is supposed to be changed, but that has obvious limitations in practice. Minimize system empty / open time where possible.

This is what ours looked like. It was randomly limiting pressure until it totally stopped flow. The internals fell apart. I would think Monaco used same or similar cheap pressure protection on all rigs.

thanks Tom for the reply.  My hoses and fittings are not leaking. The hose are Dyna Flex with a thermoplastic black cover that is falling off.  Dyna Flex support said the hose are ok that way but can be easly damaged if bumped. So wanted to replace before that would happen. the reservior is long at about 15" with the first 4-5" supported by the assembly mounting plate.

See attached photo. I can see that it would not take much effort to fab addional support, which I will get done before next road trip.

I have stayed in the SKP parks in Benson, AZ & in Chimacum, WA....both were nice parks. Another possibility is the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, about 34 miles out of the park. That road will take you alongside the Merced River on your way to the NP.

I am going thru the same problem on my 2008 Camelot. I do not have power at the controller. I have taken it out and unplugged all harnesses, but I do not see any sign of overheating on the plugs or on the controller.  When this problem first surfaced I had someone tell me that they were sure the problem was the clock spring on the steering column, so without checking I bought a new one, and of course it did not fix my problem. Is there anything that I can check, before replacing the controller?

VIP has a decent troubleshooting guide that walks you though how to check.   I'd start there

There is a 3 amp fuse on the module.  Here's a picture of a SM210 model.  Replaced AC Capacitor - Duo-Therm For It Is Blank

Update; got new board and things are working like they should.  I ordered the board on Monday from RVParts Depot and it was delivered on Tuesday.  For $10 shipping!  Not bad.  Don't know much about the company but they sure did come through for me.  $203 total cost and delivered next day via UPS.

As was said; careful to disconnect/isolate your electronics to prevent any damage from welding current.

Sorry to see this beautiful coach damaged. I am impressed how well it held up with such a large tree though. I hope the insurance company treats you fairly and settled in a timely manner.

Hello everyone -

Does anyone have any experience using a water softener in your coach?

Yes, I used a Travel Soft for years while living in the southern part of California. Very hard water there at Valencia Travel Village. I sill have it but most of the places we have been Workamping at in the NE have city water which has not been bad at all so I haven't used it much since being on the East Coast. But it's ready to travel in case we need it.

One of our prestigious members had recommended this one a few years ago.

I have used an On the Go Water Softener for years. They are easily recharged using a box of common table salt then flushing with fresh water.  Kongsberg Chassis Control Multiplexing

Bob, you have a Kongsberg chassis multiplex system.  To confirm look in the FRB.  You'll see a single large circuit board and a CCM module below it.  A conventional chassis system will have over a dozen small circuit boards and a SmartWheel module in the FRB.

I have a similar looking but larger circuit board in my FRB, with fuses above the relays, and interspersed with the relays. Might that be a Kongsberg? I am experiencing smartwheel problems of no Headlight flashing,  windshield wiper intermittently not working,  however cruise control is working fine.

I've been using On the Go Double Soft for about 6 years.  It works well but is a little tough servicing.  I was able to fit it inside the bay near the 12V water pump.

Help creating an effective search query.

NOPE.

You do NOT have the Kongsberg system. Thank whomever you might talk to before you go to sleep...  LOL.

You have a "conventional" or more of an Automotive System. The "Thing" in the front run bay is the large Printed Circuit Board that has all the chassis and house harnesses and the fuses for most of the Motor Home.  I forget the count... but there are maybe 10 fuses in the Rear Run Bay (behind the door with the locking knobs.  There are over 60 fuses up there.  You also have about 30 Fuses in the Intellitec MPX that controls the lighted key pads and maybe 12 Fuses in the House 12 VDC panel.

If you have NOT downloaded the prints...here is the one that works...

This is not a COMMON issue, but it happens.  You need to pull off the black cover around the lower steering column.  There are several multipin connectors there.  Unplug and reseat and maybe do that again.  Look at the BACK of each connector.  Look at every wire.  If the wire or the "pin" is sticking out FURTHER than the rest...use a small screwdriver and push it in and reseat the pin in the connector.

NEXT...  Open the Genny area.  There are several connectors similar to those under the steering column cover.  REPEAT the take apart and reseat and then check for any pin or wire or terminal that may have not been seated and push it in.

THAT has fixed this for many folks.

Hope this helps....

LOOSE connections and flashing are the issues.  NOW....look at the PRINTS.  Find the VIP controller.  There is a PRINT for it.  I THINK there are TWO relays that connect it.  You might need to check those relays.

THE FINAL THING....may be the CLOCK SPRING inside the Steering Wheel. GO to the VIP site. OR google. The clock spring is what makes it work....too complicated to explain.  Many folks have had the steering wheel pulled (not a complicated task...I have pulled wheels before).  Then there is a REPLACEMENT spring that is installed...that usually takes care of the intermittents.

BUT...do the connectors and find the relays.  Use the Print for the Front Run Decal.  That tells you WHAT each relay is.

Good Luck.

2005 Navigator. Differential issues or what else?
4rickyg

Well it's definitely the differential. We pulled it and there was three or four teeth broken off of the big gear. Was plenty of oil in there and it looked normal except for metal.

I found a reman dif.at transaxle in Atlanta. So I rented a truck  and drove two and a half hours to get

it.$1625.00. That was much less than I was expecting with a two-year warranty.

So as long as we have the correct diff and the U-joints and seals hopefully I will be back on the road tomorrow. If it wasn't for me pushing the shop watching everything they did and sourcing the part myself it would probably be in there for a week or two. Fingers crossed I will let you know how it goes.

Hi, @JohnC3,

I just dropped 10 x 6 awg wires behind the Msb, it works perfectly, there is still more space for another 100 wires😀

Thank you so much!

PRAYERS and THOUGHTS for those impacted by Helene....we never expected this....
Les Hurdle

Hi Tom,

Yes, many of us have endured 'Mother Nature'. My wife and I were in the 1994 Northridge earthquake.  We were 1/2 mile from the epicenter.  According to officials, houses in our area rose up and down by as much as 15 feet.  My wife and I sat in the driveway  and watched.......... quite the ride.

https://www.conservation.ca.gov/cgs/earthquakes/northridge#:~:text=On January 17%2C 1994%2C at,heart attacks) and injured thousands.

I wish all those involved with Helene fast recovery.
