Replacement Hydraulic Fan Motor

Yes James, that fan assembly is same as mine but there is no parts list or numbers for the Valve shown, would you have by chance still have the one you replaced when you replaced the Rad or know the manufacture , part number or how to source a valve? do you think the one White House has with the one hose would work , one hose to Wax Valve (in) ort then the (out) port back to the Tank, this would let the bleed off go through the Wax Valve when cold to the Tank, as the Wax Valve gets Hot and starts to close, this would reduce and or stop the flow from the Valve making it operate same as ours or am I out to lunch on this. I have all new Hydraulic Hoses made ready to install, all the old Hoses removed except the Two Power steering Hoses which I just cut back and left tie wrapped in place, had issues with the Fan only running slow speed, had to remove the Fan assembly to get the Hoses off so was wanting to get the Valve replaced or rebuilt, quite sure the valve internals are seized as did all the required tests and no change inn speed, anyway Valve is quite rusted, the bolts to remove from motor look OK but the large plug in the end of the Valve is not so good and the Shop is concerned they may screw it if they get it out they could possible make a new plug, as long as I cant get a source for a Valve I have no back up so I'm looking at putting it back running slow speed and going to Flordia  and back and attempting to repair Valve next Spring but I really would like to do it now and not have to drain system and remove the Fan assembly again next year. I will send you some pics close up, I forgot to upload from my phone.

Jim, the first pic (47) is the Big Plug in end of Valve, could be for a Spool, this is a concern on removal, if we can get it out , hopefully retain enough to make a new one, pic (46) is the Small Flange where the 2 hoses from the Wax Valve connect, this appears to be held on to the Valve by one Allen Bolt and the outside hose connection appears to also hold the Flange onto the Valve.

Need ECM Image for 2001 Monaco Diplomat

Thanks, Tom. That's a lot of info. But it's exactly why I was asking for a 2001 Diplomat. I want the right program. Maybe I wasn't specific enough by saying "dealer" but it's the local Cummins shop in Bozeman that will flash it if I have the right image.

Very easy.  The window us hung from a rail. Just like an awning rail. At either end there is a very small Robertson screw

Remove the rear screw and the windows will slide all the way and out. You might have to first sptay the rail with wd40. It takes 2 people. I don't know if you have valence over that window bit the blind and the valence have to come out. The fridge will be tight in that opening so it has to be 100%  level. Have fun

WELL NOW.  That is clever. The ingenuity of our members always amazes me.  For ALL I know, my installer did that.  All I know...  It came out....It came in.  He did use my brackets and design for the retention and has been using that concept since then for all Res Refer installs.

Thanks.

I only replaced my thermovalve mounted on the radiator, I didn't have a problem with motor or switch.

From a appearance there is excessive rust, not sure what's going on there.

Since you system is down I would recommend just removing the motor and switch.  put caps on all the ports and clean it up with a pressure washer.  You might find part numbers and manufacturer!.  Spray the plugs and fittings with PB Blaster or equivalent and let it soak for a couple days then try and get them out.

You might contact Visione RV, or another salvage yard and see if they would sell you the motor fan assembly.  I know they piles of complete radiator assemblies, they might be able to part with just the fan system.    It will be $$$ but at this point you may not have a choice.

@Paul J A HS = AH Boiler Coolant Supply / HR = AH Boiler Coolant Return

Another appropriate acronym would be AHCS and AHCR

That's where the heat exchanger gets its heat from to heat up the fresh water supply.

I consider Jim to be one of the smarter certified Aqua-Hot Repair Technicians who has used their common sense to come up with a less expensive and permanent solution to an expensive problem. Back in 2005 I had an external fresh water loop failure on my 2002 Windsor. That Aqua-Hot was only 4 years old! Replaced the Aqua-Hot with a rebuilt one from Colorado. Then last year, 2023, the new owner of our Windsor had the Aqua-Hot spring a fresh water leak with the external coils once again.

Photo attached.

FYI.... The RV Espar Unit that I have mentioned in a few past Aqua-Hot posts uses a Heat Exchanger System for all of the fresh hot water you need.

Jacksonville Florida for the winter?
Dr4Film

We live south of Jacksonville in a small beach town called Flagler Beach. During the winter, there are no bugs, no extreme humidity, no mold but you will get salt damage depending on how close you are to the Atlantic Ocean and how long you are there. If you rinse off the coach with fresh water a few times during the winter that will minimize the salt damage.

Home AC's systems that are near the ocean last about 6-7 years on average due to the salt damage.

There are only two good RV Parks to stay at in the Jacksonville area. The Flamingo Lake RV Resort is located NW of Jacksonville on I-10 just west of I-95.The park has a beautiful lake with Lakeside RV sites and is and easy drive to Jacksonville and any attractions. the Park is Big Rig friendly.

The only other park I can recommend is the Kathren Abbey Hanna RV Park. It is huge and is located South and adjacent to the Jacksonville Naval Air Base on the ocean and South of  the port of Jacksonville. It is much closer to all the attractions in the area.

We have stayed at both parks in the past. There are other parks in the area, but not what you would want to stay in any of them.

Vacuum Generator
Scotty Hutto

Thank goodness for this thread.  My vacuum pump released the “magic smoke” Wednesday leaving Meridian, MS and I’ve had a really cold windshield Wednesday, Thursday, and yesterday.

You can find the original (used) Ford pump (made by Hella/Evans) referenced in previous posts on eBay and at salvage shops for ridiculous prices (!), but I chose to go with the Dorman pump and harness.  They are available on Amazon for next day delivery:

I was just under my MH to take an oil sample and noticed that the rock/debris shield was dangerously close to the positive terminal on the starter. I myself have never had it down, only the oil change places. My question is does the shield belong under the starter or pointing up as shown in the attached photo?

Thanks, Dennis

I cannot look at mine right now but I am pretty sure yours needs rotated. That piece going up close to your starter goes on the other side by the oil filter I believe. I can look at mine tomorrow and let you know for sure.

On mine, the one on the drivers side has a brace that is bolted to the frame to keep it’s angle, this one is just free floating.

What Model Espar do you have? Dd it replace a Aqua Hot ? Does it provide domestic heat to/for the coach interior?

@Paul J A I don't have an Espar Unit in my Dynasty. A Monacoers member who owns a 2002 HR Imperial does have one installed in his coach. In fact he had one installed in his 2003 Diplomat which unfortunately burned to the pavement on one of his trips in Washington.

Here is the link to the Espar Unit that he has.

Thanks dr4flim for kind words but  honestly any person who worked in plumbing and heating business in northern states would have come up with same ideas.i built many heat exchangers for different systems in mountain areas in Colorado.,mainly res radiant heat, snow melting ,domestic hot water etc. With that background all that had to be done is apply to Aquahot systems.i thought it was a shame to pull out a good heating system just because of coil heat exchanger problem. Also oasis heaters work on plate heat exchangers. My Aquahot is a molded 431 which is 26 years old still firing nicely

thanks guys

Sorry Paul Ja  for kind words

2007 Dynasty - Batteries Charging at 80 amps.
Fireboss

I have a 2007 Monaco Dynasty.

When I'm hooked to shore power the batteries are charging at 13.6 v and 80 amps.

When not connected to shore power but with the engine running House batteries are charging at 13.7 v and 95 amps

This just started everything was fine the day before. Any help. would be great.

Thank you, Ross R.

Your alternator charges at a faster rate then your inverter.

13.6v sounds like float charging voltage.

How long have you been hooked up to shore power?

Two totally different charging  sources.

It would be nice to have that engine charging current on my RV. Not really necessary but would be kind of cool.

Sounds like the batteries are down a bit on charge to take that much power.  What's the issue?  Was it charging less before?

Edited your signature.  So not double post or repeat.

The Magnum will only charge up to 80 or 100 A.  Depends on the setting.  Here are two “resources”.  Read them.

Your house, and maybe your chassis, are not charged.  You need to check the electrolyte level.  You need to properly set up the Magnum.  The Alternator when you drive….doesn’t know flooded from AGM or Lithium or the Energizer Bunny.  It just pumps our current.  You have a proprietary PCB in the back.  It will engage a solenoid when one bank is down or the other.  When both banks are charged….it drops out and the banks are not connected.

This works the same for Shore (50 A).  EXCEPT….you have a much better charger.  It is a 3 Stage charger.  You need to be monitoring the Magnum remote….not the Aladdin.  The voltage you posted is still close to the BULK or sock-it-to-me state.

If your House bank is low on water….not good and they will take more current.  They may be bad.  No way to know until you read… SO read Sections 8 and 9 in the manual.  Then read the two files below.

FWIW….you can NOT yank the House and carry to an auto supplier or shops and say….TEST.  Only way is outlined in the battery section….understand SOC or State of Charge is imperative. You CAN have the Chassis batteries tested….but beware….these places SELL NEW ONES….sometimes their testing or understanding is biased… Learning about how your charging and batteries work is very important…

Eventually, if the banks….as in the Magnum is charging BOTH BANKS…like hooking up a jumper cable between them will keep the voltage and current up.  Eventually the charger should change to Absorb….voltage will drop and current will come down.  Then…FLOAT…

BUT if there is a bad battery in either bank….the Magnum and your BiDirectional charging system….will keep pumping current….as in one or more of the cells ic shorted or a battery is now a big resistor and the other batteries are NOT CHARGING.  All is explained….

Ron. You not open it very far. With 2 grunts you swing it out some and slide it to the rear. Removing the valence was harder than removing the window. It is not that heavy

Multiplex Cold Weather Issue
Jim Roach

Update-

It has to be a physical connection issue.  It only occurs when the rig is cold…. Under 55* or so.  I’m slowly going thru all the connections on the panels and in the closet panel.  Several have been tightened 1/4-1/2 turn.  If i can tighten them, then then cable is removed, everything cleaned and reassembled.

Problem with that is, if the batteries were down a bit, it would be in 'bulk' or 'absorb' charge mode, and displaying 14+ volts @ 80A

Bruce, Are you saying THAT IF YOU OPEN THE WINDOW SAY BEYOND 45 DEGREES ( straight out from the closed position) IT WILL COME OUT OF THE TRACK??  That is scary because in an emergency it would have to be opened at least 45 degress to get out.

Really appreciate your info & feedback.

Which batteries?  Chassis or Coach?  I presume Coach, but . . . .

For the 2nd time my chassis batteries showed ~10% despite battery switch in 'off' position.  After charging they quickly bled down to 10%.  Checked individual leads and 0 ma on all circuits except the one going through the switch (100 ma).  So, nothing drawing the battery down.

Separate the 2 chassis batteries and one was 12.9V while the other was 11.3V.

I bought 2 new batteries today . . . .

@Fireboss you could have a bad battery, either in your chassis pair or coach set, drawing all that current.  Check them out individually.

Bob, I agree.

80A DC current should be pushing much more than 13.6v at the battery bank!

klcdenver is right. It was meant to protect the oil filter. Back in 2005 when we purchased our 2005 40pdq Endeavor I got tired of removing the entire rock guard so I took it down one final time to cut off that small vertical section where it meets the larger portion and welded a hinge there so when you have to change the oil filter you would just unbolt the vertical section at the frame with one nut and drop it down out of the way. Somewhere up above should be(memory serves me)a stud on the frame where it should connect. Hope this helps!
