@VinceB I did call DMV to confirm they received the notice from CARB about 10 days after. They confirm and advised that I will receive my tags in about 30 days or I could goto AAA. I chose AAA. They gave me the new reg & tags without issue.

@SteveD is absolutely correct. My renewal notice looked exactly the same. Then I got the letter and the headache. Do yourselves a favor, if you are in CA, just go register now and pay any fees due. My bet is DMV will never send a smog required notice. I just received the following email from CARB a few minutes ago. Do you have your tags? I did mine online and received the letter. Once I registered with CARB, I picked my tags up at AAA . I just didnt want to wait a month to get them by mail.

@windsorbill06 The sad thing was I was never notified by CARB or DMV. That's what had me pissed off. Had I known, I would of handled months before not days before tags were due.

As of today... YES. Back story to my experience on this. Not to make this political again but I paid my fees of $457 online with the CA DMV. No where on my renewal was anything stated about this. It just said pay the fees. 2 weeks later I receive an email from DMV stating I submitted an incomplete renewal for a non carb compliant vehicle and I must call CARB or visit their website. When I called, I was # 542 in queue so I hung up. Called DMV and gave the an a$! chewing since my reg expired in just a few days. (Just to make me feel better) Their response is we are sorry but that's what you have to do. When I figured out how to create my account, and got logged in and everything, my tags were held for fees due for 2023. The 2024 fees were due in November so I just paid them both. $30 each plus a $1.29 processing fee.

Well.... I live in CA and literally just went through this 2 weeks ago. As of now, All I had to do was register at https://cleantruckcheck.arb.ca.gov by providing my info along with the license plate number, VIN and pay a $30.00 fee. Then I was able to download my Carb cert. 1 week later CA DMV released my tags.
